Our town is in desperate need of a face-lift if we have any hope of making it an attractive place for visitors. We need to keep the streets clean, buildings looking smart and create a fantastic environment to be proud of. We are encouraging all members of the community to become involved to contribute to the change.
This is already well underway and we have rolled out some colourful bins across the town, beautifully painted my children from the town, to encourage the community to put their rubbish in the bin rather than on the street.
There are regular litter-picking action days.
Shop owners are being encouraged to clean, repair and paint their shopfronts. With the new community retail bulk shopping centre being moved closer to where the majority of Grabouw’s population lives – tatty shops in the main street and on the riverfront will need to re-invent themselves if they hope to survive. Inhumane shopping conditions will no longer be tolerated by a Grabouw consumer who is being adequately catered for
RIVER CLEAN UP
The river that runs through the town was once magnificent but, due to poor upkeep and encroachment from alien vegetation, it has become overgrown and practically stagnant. We want to clean up the river to make it beautiful once more, enabling it to be a focal point for strategic development going forward.
